Sustainability

At Servi Group, we want to take our share of responsibility for sustainable development. This commitment is deeply rooted with our owners, the board and the group management. We take this responsibility not only because it is expected of us, but because we genuinely care about developing Servi Group in an increasingly sustainable direction.

OUR FOCUS AREAS

Servi Group has identified five focus areas for our sustainability efforts. Our sustainability work is closely linked to Servi Group’s overall strategy.

CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT

As an industrial company, Servi Group has a significant impact throughout our entire value chain — from the extraction of raw to the disposal of our products many years later. However, we have also identified opportunities related to climate and environment.

Here is more information about our focus areas within climate and environment:

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Servi Group's goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. The original target was to reduce emissions in Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 by 48% by 2030 compared to 2022 levels. Emission reductions progressed so quickly that we decided to raise our level of ambition in 2024. The updated target corresponds to a total reduction of Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 emissions by 81% compared to 2022.

However, the majority of our emissions are in Scope 3, particularly related to the procurement of goods and services. We have made good progress in mapping several Scope 3 categories and are exploring opportunities to reduce emissions in these areas.

Read more about our initiatives and targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our sustainability report. Here you can also view our GHG inventory.

Delivering products and systems with improved environmental performance

A large part of Servi Group’s environmental impact occurs when customers use our products. Servi Group therefore sees it as an important opportunity to offer products and systems that help our customers reduce their impact on the climate and environment.

The environmental impact during the use phase occurs in several areas. One of the most significant is the energy consumption of the systems. Servi Group delivers various solutions that help customers reduce their energy use. The mineral oil used in hydraulic systems is another major environmental factor. Servi Group offers solutions both to reduce oil volume and to replace mineral oil with biodegradable fluids.

The overview below highlights Servi Group’s most important products and systems that contribute to a reduced environmental footprint.

Products with improved environmental performance

Systems with frequency converters (Servi Green HPU) in their latest version combine active frequency control of motor speed with an advanced software system. This reduces energy consumption by up to 80 percent, while also making energy use more predictable. It also lowers noise levels and reduces the risk of overheating.

Servi Hybrid Drive is a complete cylinder integrated into a compact unit with electrical connection. It is space-saving, highly energy-efficient, and has a lower noise level than alternative solutions.

Servi supplies systems with electric actuators that replace hydraulic ones. These lead to reduced energy consumption and less need for hydraulic oil.

Servi Cyclone is Servi’s Cyclone element. It reduces the required oil volume by up to 90%. This significantly decreases the need for weight and space, as well as lowering handling and oil-related costs

Servi supplies biodegradable hydraulic fluids and systems adapted for their use. Traditionally, mineral oils have been used in hydraulic systems, but these pose an environmental burden as they originate from non-renewable petroleum sources and can harm ecosystems. When released into the environment, mineral oils can contaminate soil, water, and air, and tend to persist over time, resulting in long-term pollution. Biodegradable alternatives reduce the risk of water and soil contamination.

Anti-fouling and anti-corrosion systems are used to remove surface algae and similar growths on ships. Servi supplies ultrasonic versions of these systems, which help reduce the vessel’s fuel consumption and minimize the need for chemical cleaning. At the same time, the sound waves used are inaudible to humans and marine life.

Servi supplies LED lights for ships and buildings that reduce energy consumption.

Enter and grow in the renewable energy segment

The transition to renewable energy sources is one of the greatest challenges facing the global community today. It’s not only about shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy, but also about increasing overall energy production.

Servi Group has extensive experience in supplying solutions for hydropower. In recent years, Servi Group has also made significant deliveries to offshore wind projects. The company has ambitions to grow within both hydropower and offshore wind in the coming years.

Design and offer circular products and services

The world’s natural resources are under significant pressure, and the use of virgin materials in industrial production leads to high greenhouse gas emissions and negative impacts on nature. A circular economy—where materials are used efficiently, products have a long lifespan, and components are recycled and reused—is therefore one of the most important measures for succeeding with the green transition.

Servi Group offers service and maintenance solutions that support the entire lifecycle of its products. This has a positive effect on uptime and extends the lifespan of installations. Servi Group’s products are robust and long-lasting, making them well-suited for repair and refurbishment. After end-of-life, most products can be disassembled, and the materials recycled. Since most products are primarily made of steel, they have a high recycling rate. Some components can also be reused directly in new products. In recent years, we have seen an increase in repairs and refurbishments compared to previous years.

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Compliance and Code of Conduct

Servi Group has zero tolerance for corruption and any other illegal or unethical conduct in its operations.

Servi Group’s Code of Conduct outlines the behaviour expected in all aspects of our business. This includes our commitments to anti-corruption, data protection, equality, and human rights, among others.

The Code of Conduct applies to Servi Group’s board members, managers, and all employees. It provides guidance on how we should relate to our colleagues, customers, suppliers, shareholders, and society. While the Code of Conduct offers detailed guidance, Servi Group’s compliance policy summarises our commitments at a higher level.

Servi Group’s Code of Conduct is based on the UN Global Compact principles, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and relevant conventions and recommendations from the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as Norwegian legislation and anti-corruption laws in the main countries covered by our value chain (e.g., the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act).

Anti-Corruption

Servi Group has zero tolerance for corruption. All our facilities are located in Norway, which ranks low on corruption risk indexes such as Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. Nevertheless, there is always a potential risk that corruption may occur.

Servi also has suppliers in various countries where the risk of corruption is higher, as described in our Transparency Act statement.

Training in our Code of Conduct and compliance policy is an important measure to prevent corruption.

When engaging with potential new suppliers and customers located in countries with higher corruption risk, we always conduct a thorough assessment before entering into any agreement.

Whistleblowing System

Servi Group aims to ensure that no misconduct or irregularities occur within the company and foster a culture where employees feel free to speak up about issues that violate the Code of Conduct.

As part of our work under the Working Environment Act, Servi Group has implemented a whistleblowing system that allows employees to report concerns in a safe and anonymous manner. Every whistleblowing case handled by Servi Group is to respect the fundamental principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and the right to be heard. The whistleblowing procedures apply to all our employees, both permanent and temporary, as well as hired workers and apprentices. The guidelines also provide clear information about whistleblower protection.

UN Global Compact

Servi Group AS is a proud participant of the UN Global Compact, which is the United Nations organisation for responsible business.

This means that we are committed to
upholding the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles for human rights, labour rights, environment, and anti-corruption.

Responsible procurement

Servi Group falls within the scope of the Norwegian Transparency Act. This means that Servi Group is required to carry out due diligence assessments and publish a statement once a year.
